Challenge to Theists (short version)
The verses in question, 2 Samuel 24:24 and 1 Chronicles 21:25, both deal with King David purchasing a threshing floor to build an altar to the Lord, but they report different amounts for the purchase. Here are the verses: 2 Samuel 24:24 (NIV): "But the king replied to Araunah, 'No, I insist on paying you for it. I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.' So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen and paid fifty shekels of silver for them." 1 Chronicles 21:25 (NIV): "So David paid Araunah six hundred shekels of gold for the site." Understanding the Differences: Context and Purpose: 2 Samuel 24:24: This passage focuses on David's insistence on paying for the threshing floor and the oxen, emphasizing the costliness of the offering. The fifty shekels of silver likely refer to the immediate purchase price for the threshing floor and oxen. 1 Chronicles 21:25: This account might be focusing on the broader context of purchasing the entire site, which included the surrounding land, not just the threshing floor. The six hundred shekels of gold would be a larger sum appropriate for a more expansive area. Different Emphases in the Narratives: The Book of Samuel often focuses on the immediate narrative and personal aspects of David's life, whereas the Book of Chronicles tends to give a broader perspective that includes more detail on temple worship and related activities. Chronicles might be providing a fuller financial account of the whole transaction, including future expansions or developments.

Debunking the Contradiction Claim To debunk the claim of contradiction, you can explain that: Different Contexts and Audiences: Paul and James were addressing different problems and misconceptions in the early church. Paul's letters primarily dealt with the misconception that adherence to the Jewish law could save, while James addressed a complacency that ignored the necessity of living out one's faith. Unified Message: Both apostles teach that salvation is initiated by faith, but true faith will manifest in a changed life characterized by good works. Thus, they are not contradicting each other but are rather providing a fuller picture of what genuine Christian faith looks like. By understanding and explaining the different contexts and purposes behind Paul and James' writings, you can effectively address the claim of contradiction.
You're coping
I don't know what that means.

Gods are so true NOT
Wow, we might have been living in Japan at the same time!
Between 2008 and right now?
This shows a lack of understanding of meaning of words and the nature of God
Yes, I know. It's because of the approach that I take : taking the words on the pages of the Bible to mean what they actually say. I've been being called out on that for decades but I persist.
@@NonStampCollector meanings of words today are not the same as back then, when the Bible talks about hating your father it means in the sense of not prioritizing your father rather than what the word “hate” has come to mean today. And some of your alleged contradictions may have the Bible saying the same “word” even though it’s clearly in two different senses of the word But yeah this video was over a decade ago
@@NonStampCollector also what is the meaning of your channel name, I am curious.

Technically the Bible doesn’t say that we go to heaven or hell when we die, we supposedly stay in the ground until the final judgement.
I know Christians don’t like to acknowledge this, but God forgave Manasseh, David, and the entire town of Nineveh without any blood sacrifices.
In your contradictions video the 2nd contradiction is wrong because The 2nd contradiction is wrong because abhraham is tested not tempted look at the greek word its peirazo which means to test faith
So the KJV is wrong. How is this a strike against me?
@@NonStampCollector You're saying these are contradictions in the bible not translation lol
There's a contradiction in the most popular and widely-read translation of the Bible that has ever existed. "Oh, but it's only a translation" doesn't cut it. If I wrote an autobiography and the publisher allowed the most widely-read version to contain errors, I'd be pissed. The fact that the author of pi apparently let this shit fly is not very good proof that he had any part in any of it. And by the way: it's not as if we have the originals to compare to. What we have are translations of copies which may or may not have been complete or accurate.
The 2nd contradiction is wrong because abhraham is tested not tempted look at the greek word its peirazo which means to test faith
Whats the point of an all-knowing god who knows absolutely everything from beginning to end, needing to test someone when that god can literally read their minds and see their futures. 😅

Only now do I realise: the gym talk is an allegory to his religious beliefs. He used to be hardcore and attend every day but then he left. The iPhone talk also represents his beliefs. As a Christian he used to talk badly about non-believers.
Well it's more a case of changing his viewpoints. I chose those two arenas because they're known for dogged adherence. How many gym bros become vegetarian? How many anti-Apple people make the switch?

God did “just forgive” in the Old Testament but Christians don’t read that part
There is still No proof that they were written by 4 individuals vs four revisions by one person. They done even know if it's from the deciples or not.
Are you agnostic or atheist?
Like it matters.
The worst part is when they gaslight you and say that you're always bringing up atheism.
The church I'm going to is pointing out the foolishness of the gospel as its greatest strength. I think the point they're trying to make is that the wisdom of God is greater than our own, so the Gospel is only foolish in the eyes of those who lean on their own understanding. Side note, I'm an Agnostic Atheist who is going to church. Yes, I know that's weird.
'Believe in him' is also misinterpreted.. that phrase can mean believe what i say, not give everyone a passcode for society to mislead you.
God spelled backwards is dog but gods spelled backwards is sdog, not dogs.
That's a more convincing argument for monotheism than anything that William Lane Craig has ever come up with.
God spelled backwards is dog but gods spelled backwards is sdog, not dogs.
You should explore other religions. Read the Hindu books, for example.
No thanks.
@@NonStampCollector why not? Because you just hate christianity?
Because as difficult as it is to understand, I'm mostly interested in the religion that I was raised into, which I devoted one day per week to throughout my childhood, which I got into for myself as a teenager, believed in firmly, devoted one day a week to throughout my teenage years, prosthelytized, brought others to, and then struggled with for several very dark years, and now which has an incredibly heavy influence over the culture and politics of my home country and the planet generally..... Rather than some religion I know fuck all about and which has had zip fuckety squat impact on any area of my life ever. So again, no thanks.
Jesus condoned slavery.
Nah I think you're wrong about that. Isn't there that famous part where he specifically calls upon all slave-owners to set their slaves free immediately, and absolutely denounces such inhumane behavior? I'll just check my new testament...... Oh shit.

10/10 example of how delusional people sound without including context
It’s believers who take these entire documents out of context: the historical context in which they were written, during which errors, mistakes, miscopies, mistranslations, and deliberate changes were absolutely normal, natural, and expected. Copyists made mistakes and changes. They added things, omitted things, and fixed things that they thought the previous copyists had gotten wrong. They copied up incomplete copies, mistranslated copies, and unclear copies made on poor writing materials. There is nothing to justify a belief that these particular documents were each uniquely immune from the problems that effected all written texts up until the invention of the printing press. Similarly, there is nothing to justify a belief that not only that they were uniquely free of errors at every stage of the transmission process over centuries, passing through countless hands along the way, but that they actually come to us representing exactly every word that the original authors penned! Were the copyists thorough? Were the translations between the Greek, Latin, and Aramaic accurate? Were they complete? Would they have been disputed by other translators who might have been more skillful? Believing such a ludicrous and unsupported claim as that the bible texts come to us free of changes, errors, omissions, additions, agendas, etc, is to take the entire documents themselves completely out of context.
Wow, this is such a simplistic view of literature comprehension. Context is very important. I recommend taking a basic class on comprehending literature and one on logic, both of which might help.

“Believe in my God, listen to what I say, do what I tell you to do, never question me, give me your money."
this videos is a proof for one of the most challenging theological question: did youtube exist 15 years ago?
Most religions today are an amalgamation of many different cultures and beliefs from the past, seems more reasonable to me that contradicting narratives came from different groups of people.
This is NOT falling solely on deaf ears. 14 years ago, I wasn't ready for this line of thinking. NOW, I am. Your pithy conveyance of sound reasoning is helping me with my own quest for truth. Thank you so much for recording this. Better late than never for some of us. 😊
If I may say so myself, even as early as 2008 I could see that some of the UA-cam videos that people were making were going to stand through time, and others were going to be dated and irrelevant very quickly. Can someone explain why did the slave owners in America(Both in the south and north) had the need of editing the bible to impose their dominance on the black slaves? Doesn't the bible itself already supports slavery? C'mon guys, let us not act like God didn't give us the free will of choosing bad and good. Does God always have to give us a rule for every single thing, to do something good or to be a good person? Bad things happen because there are bad people out there. Its called "The consequences of actions". I'm so tired of this hypocrisy that people have, and I'm not even a "holy Christian girl😇" to even notice this.🙄 Edit: Guys, I'm sorry for the tone of my comment, i don't want to make people angry (I'm honestly mainly apologizing because I don't want to be sent any mean or threat comments by anyone). I wrote this according to my emotions, and I'm usually respectful. But I do still think the same. I was ambiguous with the "not a holy angel" part of the comment. I actually identify myself as a Christian, of course not a picture perfect christian(cause i do stuff that I'm not proud of, including this one). I hope you understand. Thank you for reading ✨
Bad things happen because they're are bad people out there... who are following the instructions given by God himself in the Bible. "Your slaves are to come from the nations around you. From them you may buy slaves." Perhaps it would have been helpful for a divine commandment to have said "You shall not have slaves, because all people are free and can not be kept as property." Instead we get "They shall become your property... You can make them slaves for life..." Two pieces of advice : read your Bible, and actually watch the video before you comment on it that it's wrong.
For a non Christian you make a standard Christian statement, one normally from the creation type at that. The bible does endorse slavery with gods blessing and rules. The slave bible removed bits that said all are equal or anything that gave hope of freedom, even exedus was altered.
bc slavery is condemned in the bible
